Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of the vulnerable is of utmost importance
Safeguarding in an Orthodox parish is not merely a legal requirement or a set of administrative policies; it is a profound expression of Christian anthropology and the commandment to love one’s neighbour. In the Orthodox tradition, every person is created in the Image and Likeness of God, making the protection of the vulnerable—especially children and at-risk adults—a sacred duty. A robust safeguarding culture ensures that the parish remains a 'spiritual hospital' where healing can occur without the threat of harm, exploitation, or abuse. By maintaining clear boundaries, rigorous volunteer screening, and transparent reporting protocols, the Church honours the dignity of the human person and preserves the integrity of the Eucharistic community, ensuring that the peace of Christ is accessible to all in a secure and nurturing environment.
As a parish we use the services of Thirtyone:eight for DBS requirements and all safeguarding training.
Our Safeguarding Officer is Mr Tobias Condon, who can be reached on +44 7377 371725 or by email.
