How we do what we do

There are two features that have characterised our parish since its inception in March of 2021. The first of these is that we have been using space in a Methodist Church, and have therefore been somewhat limited in our ability to celebrate all the feast days throughout the Church year, while having a rather unconventional (and sometimes inconvenient service time on Sundays). The second is that, for all the things that could have held us back as a community, the opposite has happened.

The Parish of St Theodore and St Teilo is a happy community. While it is predominantly made up of 'new Orthodox' - that is, people who have come into the Orthodox Church from no religious background or from non-Orthodox Christian backgrounds - there are also members whose backgrounds are in cultures traditionally associated with Orthodoxy.

Programmes

Again, because of our limited access to space, we have not been able to do all the things we have wanted to do. As of May 2026, however, we have just launched our Orthodox Saturday School for children aged 1 to 13, although anyone may participate. It takes place on the first Saturday of every month, beginning at 12:00 and finishing at 13:30.

When we finally move into the new building, it will be open every day from 09:00 until 17:00, except on Church Feast Days when it will be open later for services. This means that our service schedule will finally increase, and you will be able to come by to pray and worship any time, or even just stop for conversation and a cup of coffee.

We will also be hosting an Orthodox bookshop, and offering classes of different kinds, including Welsh language.
